This session will give insight, background and practical advice on what to do early in the process when patients do not recover as expected from non-surgical musculoskeletal injuries (including low back pain). Faculty will review the scientific literature, talk about the medical treat- ment aspects (primarily identifying and avoiding bad care and its con- sequences, from an individual worker’s standpoint) and then discuss practical application of early risk screening and structured interven- tion. The panel will then discuss in detail clinical ‘pearls’ for clinicians dealing with delayed recovery, early intervention programs available in the community, RTW strategies and will answer questions from the audience.
