This course will discuss many issues related to the safe utilization of conscious sedation in a periodontal practice. Issues that will be addressed include medical considerations, EKG interpretation, sedation techniques, emergency protocols and rationale for sedation.

• Understand the armamentarium, drugs and techniques to safely perform conscious sedation.
• Learn effective protocols for handling medical emergencies in the office.
• Recognize the advantages of providing periodontal surgical procedures under conscious sedation.
