Dentistry is undergoing a profound change as a result of increased use of
implants, and greater emphasis on intra-oral and extra-oral esthetics. Critical
analysis of surgical procedures such as bone resection and grafting, as well as
maintenance of compromised teeth and its consequences, is needed. Similarly,
implant placement, grafting, proximity to “new” anatomic structures, timing of
loading and treatment of complications are largely uncharted. A logical path
for making the correct decisions will be presented.
