21AAP-FCE3: Lasers: What Wavelength Are You On?

Lasers are part of a diverse armamentarium in the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implant diseases. Despite robust scientific inquiry, there remains an absence of a critical mass of clear, independent evidence to inform best practices in the various applications and indications. This session aims to bridge the knowledge gap with expert speakers sharing extensive clinical real-world experience using laser therapy and a review of evidence. The overall objective for this course is to empower attendees to make informed treatment decisions when implementing laser therapy therapy.

Educational Objectives:
• Identify the mechanism of action, and the combinations of laser-specific factors that can result in different clinical outcomes.
• Recognize the potential benefits of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implant diseases.
• Realize the limitations and risks of laser therapy in the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implant diseases.
