The Future of Education: What Novel Teaching Techniques Developed During the Pandemic Can Be Used in the Future

Description: A silver-lining the COVID-19 pandemic has made educators step out of their comfort zones and try new and innovative methods for teaching their content. Could some of these lessons learned be carried over to improve the quality of periodontal education at all levels? This session explores some emerging educational techniques and technologies that could be introduced in both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral education.

Educational Objectives:
• Discuss utilizing virtual meeting platforms to bring collaborative expertise to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral programs. 
• Explore utilizing program and gaming to enhance the engagement and retention of periodontal knowledge.   
• Develop educational strategies and techniques that can be used to increase interaction and application of periodontal material.         
• Understand how haptic simulation is being utilized in periodontal education and its role in the future.
