The ability to predictably treat gingival recession with palatal connective tissue grafts has been one of the cornerstones of periodontal therapy over the past quarter century. During this time, surgical techniques have been refined and modified to become less invasive and more esthetically pleasing. Along with these advancements, alternatives to palatal donor tissue have been introduced and surgical techniques refined, with the aim to meet - or even exceed - the outcomes expected from conventional procedures, while reducing morbidity. This program will highlight these developments over the past 25 years.
