What It’s About:
As many builders, developers, and remodelers have taken on new types of projects over the last few years, an increasing number of questions have arisen regarding when and how certain civil rights statutes and accessibility standards apply. This interactive session will provide an overview of the key areas of the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), share illustrated examples of when your projects have to be in compliance and explain how you can best satisfy the requirements of these laws. We'll also examine projects involving a public component such as parks, streets and sidewalks, projects built for a state or local government and projects that receive some type of federal funding assistance.
What You'll Learn:
Learn the fundamentals of the Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, and how these laws apply to new construction and remodeling projects.
Learn how to assess if the Fair Housing Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act applies to your construction project, including model homes, clubhouses and sales offices.
Know what steps to take to ensure compliance for a smooth project experience.
Understand how these laws apply to historic properties and those projects receiving federal funding and/or involving public components.
