Sunday Session
Moderator: Richard Cutler
Program Track: Periodontal-Systemic Relationships
Despite the mouth’s accessibility, many tumors are not detected until they are advanced with a consequent negative impact on morbidity and mortality. Technologies have been developed and heavily marketed which tout increased diagnostic sensitivity in the absence of surgical biopsy. This presentation will compare the efficacy and value of existing and pending oral cancer diagnostic technologies, and discuss their place in current periodontal practice.
Educational Objectives:
• Discuss existing diagnostic technologies.
• Learn emerging diagnostic technologies.
• Understand the role of the private practice periodontist in the screening of oral cancer with new diagnostic technologies.
